Nov. 29—A ballot measure to tax Whatcom County property owners to fund child care, preschool and other programs has taken the lead as the latest ballot totals from the Nov. 8 election were released Monday, Nov. 28.
Only 234 ballots remained to be counted when the last total was posted Thursday evening, Nov. 17.

It requires only a simple majority to pass.
Another ballot count is due at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, when the Canvassing Board is scheduled to meet and certify the results of the election, according to the Auditor's Office website.
