Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Health and Nutrition Service of Racine - HNSR-WIC

WIC provides nutrition education, breastfeeding education and support, supplemental nutritious foods, and referrals to other health and nutrition services. All participants, their parents, or caregivers receive individualized nutrition information to address the specific needs identified during a WIC appointment. WIC EBT is an electronic system for food benefit issuance and redemption at authorized WIC grocery stores. Food benefits include: fruits and vegetables (fresh, frozen, canned), juice, whole wheat/whole grain foods, cereal, etc. WIC also provides formula and medical food for women and children. WIC provides participants with checks to purchase locally-grown fresh produce at farmers markets. The WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program provides a one-time food benefit per growing season to WIC families. Each family receives checks redeemable at local farmers markets from June to October.
